Anonymous asked: Do you ever wonder if students have personal life issues, or how they're thinking/feeling? or do you find it easier to not dwell that aspect?

do I ever wonder? do I?
this aspect of students takes up approximately 95% of my teaching time.
I think, therefore I am.
students are people, therefore they feel.

yeah, teaching would be easier not to dwell on that. for me. but it would be inhuman to do so.

Anonymous asked: over your teaching years, have you had a favourite student/students?
everyone has favourites.

teaching them is like this:

except when they do something wrong. then it’s like this:

WHEN A NATIONAL NEWSPAPER DECIDES TO DEMONISE TEACHERS. AGAIN.

see this utter piece of tripe:

WHEN I AM ABOUT TO GO ON 6 WEEKS OF HOLIDAYS
which means this will be quiet for a bit. just quiet, that’s all. I might pop back from time to time, but really, southern hemisphere teachers, we should all go outside and enjoy the sun and the summer and our lives. northern hemisphere teachers: think happy thoughts through the winter.
but this will be back, anew, with all the goings on of another year of classes and students and teachers and the general weirdness that is the education profession.
truly noble.
the following gif represents me giving you all a glimpse of the wonder that is next year’s gifs.
